Sixty years ago on Coronation Day Tuesday 2nd June 1953 the Talyllyn Railway became the only preserved railway to operate two specially decorated trains as part of the celebrations.
During the weeks before the original Coronation Day trains the railway publicised that children would ride for free, and also special red white and blue tickets were printed.
Anyone who was present or rode the train back on Coronation Day in 1953, and who would like to take part on the day, is asked to contact the Talyllyn Railway at Wharf Station, alternatively for those interested in taking part in the proposed BBC documentary please contact Gemma Hagen at gemma [dot] hagen [at] bbc [dot] co [dot] uk.
