Following the postponed Guy Fawkes firework display evening train (12th November, which carried 170 passengers) the railway has now closed for the season and the track lifted at Penrhyn Corner level crossing.
Because of the length of the crossing the two standard length rails have had to be welded together. Whilst lifting the track, original rail dating from the inter-War years was uncovered. Once the track has been re-laid a tarmac contractor will resurface the road with asphalt. The work will be completed in time for the Santa Specials on 8th & 9th December.
