The Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway’s 2005 Centenary Season has come to an end with the recent Gala Weekend. The Railway is pleased to announce that passenger numbers were up by over ten percent on last year, which is a satisfying increase.
The season has seen the departure of standard gauge static locomotive No4, the construction of a new 5 inch gauge miniature railway along the Creek fenceline at Kemsley Down, the arrival of our first ever visiting steam locomotive Chevallier from the Great Whipsnade Railway, the return to service of diesel locomotive Edward Lloyd and the centenary of steam locomotives Premier and Leader.
The railway will reopen for Santa Specials in December (every weekend leading up to Christmas and then Boxing Day) and the 2006 Season will start on Good Friday.
