NJ 3 leading a train of empty grain hoppers bound for Kimba awaits clearance before proceeding from Cummins.
Cummins is unusual in having two main lines running along the main street in a raiway reserve. The lines for Thevenard and Kimba separate in the station yard just short of the town. The six NJ class were introduced in 1971 to work on the original narrow gauge line to Alice Springs but were relocated to Eyre Peninsula when the standard gauge line to Alice Springs opened.
