Most of the smaller 0-6-0 locos operated by the mills are M.U. and regularly run in pairs. Q.R. experimented in the 1960's with M.U. of 2ft gauage diesel hydraulic locomotives and are believed to be the first to adopt the practice in the world on their locos hauling raw sugar to the Mourilyan Wharf, from Mourilyan Mill. Bundaberg Sugar ceased hauling raw sugar by train a few years ago for some obscure reason, and it is now done by road trucks.
