Penrhyn

A reminder of the marvellous summer of 1987 when steam ran on the Cambrian Coast line after the rebuilding of Barmouth Bridge was complete. Beddgelert stands at Penrhyn station as 7819 Hinton Manor sets off across Barmouth Bridge. Sadly the bugs which had eaten into the old structure of the bridge have found the new timber even tastier than before! It looks as though it will be a while before this scene can be repeated.
May 1987.
